dbf-commander is a cross-platform computer software package for viewing and editing dBASE compatible files (dBase III and V file formats) and Oracle Forms .FRM files. The program also includes a built in SQL Query editor with functions to execute the query, edit the result set, and export to CSV or XML format. Functions include: select all/none/some records, left outer join, right outer join, union (all rows), intersect (common rows) and differences (rows not common). Queries can include expressions such as COUNT(*), DISTINCT CUSTOMER.ORDER_DATE/*/*/*/, MAX(EMP. NAME) or any combination of the above. The program allows for the creation of multi-level sub-files (folders) for storing history, reports, databases and other information. This is achieved by use of an internal tree structure that makes the dbf-commander file look like a network file system. The folder structure, with files within it, looks like an ordinary dBase III or V file except with each extension replaced by a four-letter name. dbf-commander's dynamic interface allows the viewing of different types of dBASE data including: dbf-commander can open and edit files created in any format that is supported by dBASE III/V. These include: The database structure can be viewed and edited. The structure is displayed using either icons (for Macintosh) or glyphs (for Windows). dbf-commander's unique interface allows browsing through all dBASE data types with the ability to view, edit, copy, paste, delete and move these items. As an example, the user can browse through the dBASE data types (tables/files) or Oracle Forms modules like directories in a file system with icons or glyphs representing each record type attached to a parent icon/glyph. Other dBASE III/V editors require knowledge of dBase's "code" language to accomplish this task. dbf-commander also supports the SQL standard "GO TO" sql statement that allows programmatic navigation and editing/creation of data structures (tables/files). This unique capability is useful for: The documentation includes: Note: Features not available or restricted on Windows platform: Proper editing of Oracle Forms .FRM files is available on MacOS X, Windows and Linux platforms. Users can edit, create, delete forms and their fields, import/export forms from/to one or more Oracle Forms .FRM files. The editor has a form creation wizard which guides the user through the creation of a new Oracle Forms application from scratch. The editor has a nice multi-object interface and has wizards to build forms. .FRM files can be pasted from the clipboard. The customizable file explorer allows a user to browse through the ordered list of dBase III/V files with icons or glyphs representing each file attached to a parent icon/glyph. Other dBase editors require knowledge of dBase's "code" language to accomplish this task.dbf-commander's unique scripting language is based on the DLL COM interface and allows users to create new applications, manipulate data, use command objects, modify SQL statements and programmatically control the application from within the GUI tool without having to know dBase's "code". cfa1e77820
